Day 26: The Grind Continues 📉
This morning was tough, no doubt about it. Almost slept through the alarm, but somehow managed to drag myself out for a short 3K before work. The challenge is definitely fighting back this week—physically in the beginning, and now mentally.
Respect to all the runners who consistently lace up and get it done, regardless of how they're feeling. This kind of perseverance really hits home during weeks like these.
Reflections
One area I’ve been struggling with is sleep. Over the last seven nights, my wake time has averaged around 1 hour per night, which is just too much. Despite sticking to my usual night and morning routine, something feels off. Maybe it's the anticipation of going home soon? The body feels stressed, and that’s something I need to address for better recovery and performance.
I’ve also thought about how different this challenge would feel with a structured, scheduled plan. Right now, I wake up, assess how I feel, and plan my run accordingly. Most of my sessions have been in the low aerobic zone, with minimal high aerobic or anaerobic work. It makes me wonder: would a fixed plan push me harder or burn me out faster?
Nutrition is another hurdle. Waking up with fatigue from skipping proper dinners isn’t helping either. These obstacles are frustrating, but they’re also giving me insights. I know this challenge is laying a solid foundation for the training and nutrition I want to focus on when I’m back home.
The Power of Visualization
One thing keeping me grounded is visualization. Picturing myself achieving my goals—whether it's finishing a race or hitting a new PR—keeps me motivated. Repeating that image in my mind makes it feel real, like it's already part of my reality. It’s a powerful tool for days when nothing seems to go right.
